ROSACEA ACNE/RHINOPHYMA

Before & After

By Dr. Nektarios Logaras – Dermatologist/Venereologist

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease. It is characterized by 4 stages:

In the 1st stage, the patient appears a transient erythema following the effect of one of the triggering factors, such as:

-The increase of the ambient temperature
-Alcohol consumption (red wine)
-Stress
-Spicy foods
-Hot drinks, steam

This specific redness lasts only a few minutes but over time it becomes more frequent and more prolonged.

In the 2ndstage, the redness appears permanently on the face while small vessels become visible on its surface.

In 3rd stage, in addition to redness and blood vessels, red pimples begin to appear on the surface of the skin, some of which may also show pus.

In the 4th stage, beyond the characteristics of the disease that are mentioned in the previous stages, the skin shows hyperplasia of its sebaceous glands resulting in thickening and deformity of the face.

Treatment

As for the treatment, it depends on the stage of the disease. In the initial stages, we recommend the use of topical therapy, while in advanced stages, oral therapy or laser treatment is recommended.

RHINOPHYMA

When we have hyperplasia of the sebaceous glands, and nose deformity, then we proceed to treatment with Laser eCO2
