Skin Cancer Removal

Before & After

By Dr. Nektarios Logaras – Dermatologist / Venereologist

One of the most common type of cancer in Greece is skin cancer.

The most common types of skin cancer are the following ones:

-Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
-Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
-Melanoma (M)

The most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma (BCC). The main cause of Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is the sun and its harmful rays. In particular, it occurs most often in the areas of the face, neck, head, chest, shoulders and back, i.e. the areas that are most exposed to the sun.

The groups of people who are at higher risk for developing basal cell carcinoma (BCC) are those with fair-colored skin, hair and eyes.

There are five warning signs that indicate the development of skin cancer:

-a red-shaped spot
-a wound that does not heal
-a glossy nodule
-an area with white coloured scars
-a pinkus lesion (tumor)

There are several ways to treat Basal Cell Carcinoma. The best way to treat it in order to be completely removed is surgery and a histological examination (Biopsy) is required.

After the surgical removal, the plastic restoration of the area is performed, for the best possible aesthetic result painless.
